Yvonne Mc Guinness has an MA from the Royal College of Art, London. She lives in Dublin, Ireland. Her practice encompasses performance, video, photography, sewing, writing, sculpture and context specific installations.
Mc Guinness’ socially engaged work has an interest in embodied experience of place and re-imagining the everyday by devising projects that create surreal and dynamic moments of interaction and connection to place, time and communities. This is immersive work, which is collaborative and generally temporary. The work is often a catalyst to generate other narratives for its participants.
She has a collaborative practise with artist Rhona Byrne where they produce large-scale, socially engaged and contextually responsive interventions. Recent commissions are In Context 4, www.incontext4.ie, South County Dublin Art Commission curated by Aoife Tunney and Claire Power and Mobile Monuments, Fingal County Council 2016.
Mc Guinness also makes more intimate video works concerned with the construction of personal identity, and in how fluid that construct can be.
